Glen Rock Jaycees Scholarship
The scholarship consists of a one-time award given annually to a Glen Rock resident (current high school senior) in the amount of $1,500 to be used to pay for college or trade school expenses. The recipient is to be selected by the Jaycees. In the spirit of the basic purpose of the Jaycees, the ideal candidate will be a civic-minded individual who has demonstrated a history of productive involvement in activities and/or organizations that have as their focus the improvement of Glen Rock community life. Additionally, the applicants must be Glen Rock residents at the time of application, and must be graduating high school seniors in good standing. The scholarship is funded from money raised in the Jaycees Labor Day Arboretum Run and the Jaycees annual Christmas tree sales.
Applications can be requested by e-mailing Pat Carlin at padcarlin@optonline.net. The application process runs from the beginning of March to early May each year. During that time, applications are also available at the Glen Rock High School Guidance Office.
Each year, the winner of the scholarship will be selected by a Jaycees scholarship approval committee consisting of a minimum of three current Jaycees members. The approval committee members cannot have a blood relative applying for the scholarship. All applications will be reviewed by the approval committee, and narrowed down as they deem appropriate. The winning candidate must be approved by a majority of committee members.
Congratulations To Our Most Recent Winners: 2007: Jordan Michael Kirsch 2006: Stephanie Amos
